Wir haben Grund zu feiern! Catalina Giraldo Vélez erhielt die Auszeichnung "Unternehmen mit Kultur". Der Preis wird in Deutschland tätigen, aber im Ausland geborenen UnternehmerInnen verliehen, um ihren Beitrag zur deutschen Gesellschaft zu würdigen. Die Preisverleihung wurde vom Bildungswerk der Thüringer Wirtschaft e. V . (KAUSA) organisiert und im Erfurter Dompalais am 26. September 2019 überreicht.
Am Dienstag, den 16. April 2019 um 19:30 Uhr stellen wir in Jena den Band "Was hält ein Gedicht zusammen? Einblicke in Werkstätten deutschsprachiger Gegenwartslyrik" vor. Die Autorinnen Nancy Hünger, Barbara Köhler und Monika Rinck werden aus ihren Texten lesen. Kommt vorbei!

Ein Poetryfilm ist ein Kurzfilm, der Lyrik und Film verbindet. Was fasziniert daran, Gedichte im Bewegtbild zu interpretieren? Was macht einen Poesiefilm spannend? Und worin besteht überhaupt die Poesie des Films?
Neben internationalen Poetryfilmen präsentieren wir einen neuen Filmessay von Paloma Llambías, der das Genre fortführt, spiegelt, reflektiert, und stellen die neue Ausgabe des Poetryfilm Magazins vor. Die Beiträge des vierten Hefts fragen danach, was den Poesiefilm zur Kunst macht.
Ende Mai ist es dann wieder soweit: Auf dem 20. backup_festival der Bauhaus Universität wird der nächste Weimarer Poetryfilmpreis vergeben. Wir werfen schon einmal einen Blick voraus auf das Programm.

Morgen ist es endlich soweit! Um 10:00 Uhr wird der "Best-of"-Band der Weimarer Kinderbibel, ein Projekt der Literarische Gesellschaft Thüringen e. V., im MonAmi der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. Die Auswahl enthält die beeindruckendsten Geschichten und Gestaltungen aus sechs Jahren Projektarbeit.
Gato&Mono-Design war maßgeblich an der Gestaltung des Auswahlbandes beteiligt.

Juhu! Unsere Animation Approaches towards ending Female Genital Mutilation wurde in der Official selection des MY HERO International Film Festivals (USA) 2016 nominiert! Die Animation entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit Ana Maria Vallejo Cuartas. Auftraggeber war die GIZ.
Gato & Mono Design is happy to present you this new film. It’s a small contribution to the fight against the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM).
On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) the Association for International Cooperation (GIZ) has worked since 1999 on ending the practice of FGM. The film explains the various strategies of the GIZ.
What a great week! Gato & Mono Design were part of the backup_festival team. We were, inter alia, responsible for the application, organization and graphics of the first Weimar Poetry Film Award.
This week there was a lot of movement! Between "keyframe" and "in-betweens" Gato & Mono Design offered the students of the 9th class of the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium Weimar an animation workshop. It was a very nice and inspiring week! At the end: hundreds of drawings, much teamwork and 80 seconds of animation! The workshop was part of the Backup school program, which took place at the Bauhaus University Weimar.

Unser neues Journal für den Poetryfilm richtet sich an alle Liebhaber von Film und Lyrik, an Filmemacher und Autoren, Lehrer und Wissenschaftler, Schüler und Studierende. Es schließt eine Lücke, die sowohl im Bereich der Filmjournale als auch der Literaturzeitungen bestanden hat. Die zweite Ausgabe widmet sich dem Thema „Ton und Voice-over“. An ihr haben zahlreiche Beiträgerinnen und Beiträger mitgewirkt, die im Bereich des Poetryfilms international bekannt und aktiv sind.

The poster is part of our initiative about Germans in Colombia. It summarize the shared history of both countries. The poster was designed in 2015 as a contribution to the 80th anniversary of the German-Colombian chamber of foreign trade (AHK) in Bogotá.

Gato & Mono Design OHG was founded in 2014 as an independent studio for image and text in Weimar. The company is engaged in the production of animated films as well as in the areas of print and web design.
In general, we describe our artistic and commercial design as clear, vivid, and vibrant. One main focus of our current interests is the experimental genre of poetry film.
We are also strongly interested in engaging in cultural and social projects that promote exchange between Germany and Colombia.
The managing team of Gato & Mono Design OHG are Guido Naschert and Catalina Giraldo Vélez:
Catalina Giraldo Vélez is a visual designer from Colombia with a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (2011 - 2014), since then she is based in Weimar. For more than fifteen years Catalina has developed creative projects in the areas of print and digital design, and animation. She has participated as lecturer in animation at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 2016.
Guido Naschert is a writer and researcher. After studying and graduating from Tübingen he taught literature and philosophy at several universities. Since 2014 he has worked as a committee member of the Literary Society Thuringia. He is the editor of Poetry Film Magazine and co-initiator of the Weimar Poetry Film Award.
